19 Aug Astym Therapy Worked Well For Scar Tissue Treatment And Helped Me Recover From Surgery
My story begins with a bilateral mastectomy in April 2014. I elected to start my breast reconstruction the same day as my mastectomy and everything went well for about six weeks. I then developed an infection and had to have one of my expanders removed and replaced and then a week later both expanders had to be removed due to infection. I had another surgery in connection with reconstruction in January of this year. Needless to say following four surgeries, scar tissue was a problem. Before my January surgery, my plastic surgeon sent to me to have Astym therapy to soften the scar tissue for that surgery, and it helped immensely. Since that time, I have again been referred for Astym therapy to prepare for my next surgical step in my reconstructive journey. I have had approximately 10 treatments so far and it’s incredible what a difference in how soft and pliable the tissue has become. I am so pleased with my results so far and expect even more improvement.
